India - Delhi

We arrived safe and all to Delhi this morning around 6 (Indian time)
Our booked taxi was waiting outside and it was about 42 degrees and didn't smell as bad as everyone has warned us about. So we wen't in the taxi and i was really excited. It took us about half an hour to get from the airport to our hostel, and as we got closer, the smells got worse!! And believe me, the area we live in is probably the dirtiest, smelliest place i've ever seen!! As you probably know the cows are holy here so the cows walk around everywhere doing their buiseness, and as the day goes on it gets hotter and hotter... so i think you get the point.
Anyway, we got our room in the hostel which only costs 5euro/night, so not bad at all. The room is very small with i double bed, and that's all that kind of fits in the room. Titchy toilet, where you nearly have to stand on the toilet to have a shower. 1st day and i'm already complaining. I suppose we're still trying to ajust to everything.
We had a nap and woke up at 4pm (Indian time) and got dressed and went out. The second we got out of the hostel we met this young, really nice guy that we started talking to. He recomended a restaurant and we had a meal there for about 1,50 euro and it was really tasty! We both had to buy a dress aswell to wear, just to respect the indiand and not to show too much flesh. Also we wont be able to get into any temples if we don't wear clothes that cover. So we thought we might aswell by the proper gear!
We booked our tour aswell today, so tomorrow (friday) we're doing a city tour in delhi, and friday we're heading off to Jaipur, Agra and Nassira. This tour will take about 5 or 6 days. It will be absolutely amazing. I'm not sure if they will have any internet around there, but I'll try and update asap!
But everything is good, very hot but we're trying to cope.

Big smelly hugs to you all!

Angela & David

Dएल्ही मैं बाज़ार पहजर्गंज

(Delhi -Main Baazar- Paharganj)

You know pictures do tell a thousand lies. This street looks dirty in the picture, but in real life it's bloody filthy and smells like rotten eggs mixed with human poo!
