Agra & Varanasi

ताज महल
Taj Mahal

To be really honest with you, we just can't wait to get out of India! Been there, done that, not going back :)
We had our good moments and we saw a lot of nice things, but enough is enough. I know there are a lot of people out there that love India, and i respect that, but it's just not our cup of masala tea!
Monday , we arrived in Agra, another very very poor city. and it all kind of looked the same. More forts, more temples, more shops...bla bla. BUT one very very beautiful thing - Taj Mahal (that's worth a visit)!
In the tour package we had a tour guide for free (but of course nothing, absolutely nothing, is for free in India, as after only a few minutes later he said something like " If you really like my tour you give me some tip, how much you like, that you pay" But he turned out to be very good actually and we gave him some tip.
So Tuesday we went to Taj Mahal, It was absolutely amazing! So big and so marbly white!
It was roasting outside that day and they only gave us a 500ml bottle of water to bring in to Taj so we got a bit dehydrated and on the way back we had to stop to get some more water. These very young boys wanted to sell us keyrings and wouldn't leave us alone even if we said No thank you about 1 million times, and there was no proper shade anywhere and it was boiling and i nearly started crying! It was just tooo much! Fair play to all Indians who work for nothing out in the boiling sun! I could never do it.
After Taj Mahal they brought us to more shops, but this time we actually bought something. A marble table! It was so funny, me and David giving out to our tour guide that he brought us to too many shops and that we weren't going to buy anything and then we went in and bought a marble table! Our first investment for the future house! I know you guys are laughing and all that, but hey, It comes with a disco light!
We went for our last meal in Agra and met some very nice girls from California. Funny, the more we talked, the more we realised that we had the same opinion about India!
We also found out we were going to go on the same train to Varanasi so that was cool.
So we met up again with the girls in the train station, said good "buy" to out tour guide and went to our platform, where we couldn't stay for long as we nearly had the whole train station standing around us, watching. The waiting room was better, even though the ladies toilet had a lot of spiders and a few rats. (Sorry Agatha for making you jump out of your seat ;)
The train took us about 11 hours, it was overnight so we could sleep for a little bit. Of course there was problems with the seating arrangement, but got sorted in the end. Nice coach master took care of us, blankets etc. Sleeping was tough, as all beds were in open plan arrangement, kids crying and old men coughing, but no real complaints. Oh also, a small rat got on the train with us, maybe it smelled another rat and wanted a holiday in Varanasi!
we got there safe anyway, early wednesday morning and are now sitting in this bloody awful hotel that gave us a dirty room so we had to change it to another one, powercuts ALL the time. But hey, life goes on and we're ok :D
Tomorrow we're going on a boat ride in River Ganges to see the sunrise! have to get up at 4.30...ZZzzZZzzz
