Delhi City Tour

इंडिया गेट - डेल्ही
India Gate - Delhi
______________________
Friday we went around Delhi on a city tour with a private driver called Khan, (Sir Khan) It was temple after temple, it all kind of looked the same after a while. Even though it was beautiful. I think that Indian tourists visiting these places have been taking more pictures of us than the actual attractions themselves. ( I suppose we are a good-looking couple)
We went to see Red Fort, Jamas Masqid, Indian Gate and also a lovely garden, where i nearly had a heat stroke. Not to mention the mental torcher of actually saying NO THANK YOU to all the rickshaw drivers, children, and everyone else who begged for money. We do understand that we as westerners coming here are there livelyhood, but in our case, its start of a year where money will be tight to say the least. So if I was to give any advice right now after day two, is learn to ignore people and watch every piece of valuable belonings that you may have. Everyone wants to be your friend but its hard to judge the genuine from the con artists so you end up ignoring everyone. These are just our thoughts on the matter. But hey, why not find out for yourselves?????? (and thats a warning) :)
We would never come back to Delhi though. It's too dirty, smelly and chaothic! (We never considered ourselves to be this posh, but when your stomach is turning inside you when you walk on the street just outside you hostel, you do form a different opinion)
So This moring (saturday) we were more then happy to go on our tour to Jaipur and leave smelly Delhi!!
It tooks us about 5 hours to drive from Delhi to Jaipur, we saw many funny things on the way. And we do have pictures to prove it!
Funny thing is aswell that our driver Khan is on a big commission. He brought us first to Amber Fort, which was lovely (Picture below) But after that he brought us to about 10 shops and said before we went in "No presure, you don't like, you don't buy, But take your time, take your time, 1 hour, 2 hour, 4 hour, take your time" After visiting the first shop, we just wanted to go to our Hotel, but no, we had 9 more shops to go to "No presure, you don't like, you don't buy, But take your time, take your time, 1 hour, 2 hour, 4 hour, take your time! and 8 shops to go "No presure, you don't like........" bla bla bla!
EVENTUALLY we got to our hotel, very nice hotel actually, included in the tour package we got.
Had some nice food and now we are enjoying our time wifi-ing in the hotel bar, with a Rs110 cheap beer! Just happy to be outside Delhi!
