One delicious year of adventures: Posing Monkeys

1st August

We extended the car rental for another day, as the amount of fun that we had previously was worth the price of 50 rinngit. Plus we still had a lot of the island to cover. Today we headed north first to the black sand beach. The sand here is pure black and because of all the rain, all the rubbish was washed up on the beach, so not that pretty. But hey, can't have it all good, all the time. We also popped into a small handicraft village, where we couldn't resist purchasing a few things, for the future house in Sweden......
Next stop was the 'Mangrove Tour', on arrival we found out the price of the boat, which was a lot for two people, so we managed to get together with a couple from Kuala Lumpur and split the price. The rain was on and off all day today, so it was difficult to stay dry. The Mangrove tour commenced, with first stop at the bat cave. The bat cave was ok, nothing compared to the one in Taman Negara. This one had a built walking platform for us, and there was no crawling involved, sooo disappointing. But that smell was still present, so that was nice. Met some monkeys along the way, who were more than happy to pose for the photos without any hesitation.
Next was the eagle feeding, on the Mangrove river. That was excellent, as you had eagles swooping down to pluck the chicken skin from the water. Amazing creatures. Then the boat man (Adi) decided he was too tired to drive the boat, he needed a smoke break so he let David drive the boat. Great fun.
Adi also extended the trip a bit, as he enjoyed our company and probably didn't want to go back for more tourists. So at the fish farm, we saw some deadly spitting fish, and lion fish, and friendly stingrays too.
We drove to Kuah town then, for some cinema and the night market was on too. A long day on the road was polished off with some beers and some cards. (The card game basically told me that I will marry Will Smith, and David will not marry Angelina Jolie). Great result.
